Baby's Hospital Bag
This is what I packed in Baby's hospital bag. As a third time Mum, I aimed to keep it pretty simple as I knew from our previous experiences what we used while in hospital/Birthcare.
Here's what I packed:
The Bag: I found the Finnson SIGRID tote bag had all the room I needed to fit everything in while remaining sleek, stylish and practical. The great thing about this bag is I can see myself using it as a gym bag or weekend bag once it's days as a baby bag are done.
1 cotton swaddle: love the fabric of this Snuggle Hunny Kids one. Even if not swaddling baby, I like to use these for an extra layer of warmth.
1 muslin swaddle: this Mushie one is a great size
Merino is also a great option for new babies - these Babu ones are so soft!
Knitted Blanket: these cotton cellular blankets from Little Bamboo is a great option. Handknitted blankets are great and so special - if you are lucky enough to have a Mum, Grandma, Aunty or Nana that knits!
Cloth Nappies: I take a couple of these - I find them really useful for catching any spills while burping baby.
Muslin Cloths: I packed a couple of these as find them really useful for spills and then later during bathtime. We have these ones in store which a lovely and gentle on babies skin.
A Wet Bag: Great to put babes' clothes or other items that get spilled on or need to be washed. Shop our range of wet bags here.
Baby Cream: To use if needed on babes bottom. Their skin is so delicate so choosing a gentle cream that can soothe and support the skin barrier is important - we love this one.
A Few Nappies: These are usually provided at Birthcare but good to have some in case.
Dummies: Not a must, just personal preference. We stock these ones from FRIGG.
Portable White Noise Machine: This one is also personal preference - this new and improved Yogasleep one now has a light!
Clothing: Merino is great for newborns! As they lack the ability to regulate their body temperature merino clothing is great for this. A mixture of merino and organic cotton clothing is ideal. Many people pack some pieces 0-3 month clothing just in case, but from my previous two babies I was pretty confident I would just need the newborn sizes.
The clothing I had for baby was:
- 3 x singlet bodysuits (2 merino, 1 cotton)
- 1 x long sleeve bodysuit
- 2 x sleepsuits (1 merino, 1 cotton)
- 2 x rompers (love the patterns and fabric of these Snuggle Hunny ones)
- Going home outfit (I love this organic cotton Babu Set)
- A couple of hats
- 2 x pairs of Lamington socks
I found putting all of the clothing in a packing cube inside the baby bag to be really helpful. It was easy to grab and kept it all together.
As I mentioned, I tried to keep it pretty simple this time round and did use pretty much everything I packed for baby!
